FAQ:
How long does it take for a repair to be completed?

We try very hard to have repairs completed within a week.  However, each individual job is different and depending on the volume of work and the complexity of the job, time frames will vary.

Does my jewelry leave your store?

As a general rule the answer is No to this question.  However, there are some reasons that we may have to send your item off to another expert in a rare occasion.

How do I know if my rings can be sized?

We can size most rings.   Even eternity bands with stones all the way around can be remade with additional stones or  sizing bar.

Can you match stones that have fallen out or are missing from my piece?

We buy from stone dealers all over the world and we can match missing stones almost all of the time.

How long does it take to solder charms on a bracelet?

It usually takes about a week to solder on charms.

ENGRAVING

Croghan’s is famous for the personalization of items through engraving!  Whether it is with our machine engraver which can duplicate logos and fonts of all kinds, to the art of hand engraving….we specialize in embellishing jewelry and gifts in a masterful way.  Please look through the photo gallery below to see just a few of the fabulous things we have engraved for our customers.

FAQ:
What is the difference between machine engraving and hand engraving?

Machine engraving can be completed and ready for pick up within 3-6 days. Hand engraving is done by our talented engravers who hand craft each piece of work. Because each hand engraving job is unique and carefully executed, it can take 1-3 (plus) weeks for completion.  While machine engraving is more affordable and takes less time, hand engraving provides a deeper cut and is available in more sophisticated and creative styles.

How much does machine engraving cost?

Machine Engraving is $9.00 a line for items purchased in our store and $12.00 a line for items NOT purchased in our store.

How much does hand engraving cost?

Pricing for hand engraving starts at around $50.00 and is priced on a per item basis.
The more intricate the design the more expensive the job will be to hand engrave.

Do you engrave things purchased elsewhere?

Yes, on a per item basis.  We charge $12 per line for items not bought in our store for machine engraving and will be happy to give you an estimate for hand engraving.

These items can usually be ready within a week depending on the season.

SILVER REPAIR & REPLATING

Let us help you keep your sterling and plated hollow shiny and in good repair!  We have two events a year dedicated to this maintenance, but we are also happy to acquire estimates for you on an ongoing basis.

FAQ:
When is your next silver replating and repair clinic?

Our next silver clinic will be Friday, February 24th from 10:00 – 4:00 and Saturday, February 25th from 10:00 – 4:00. We invite you to bring your pieces to our store for a free estimate from one of the leading experts in the country for silver replating and repair.

How much will it cost to repair or replate my silver?

Pricing is something to consider, as this level of craftsmanship does not come cheap.  We will guide you through the process as you make your decision to replate or restore your favorite things.  We will be honest if it would be less expensive or less of a hassle to kiss it goodbye and purchase a new one, or if you should keep it and love it exactly like it is with all of its imperfection.

APPRAISALS

All jewelry purchased in our store come with a cmplimentary appraisal at time of sale.  In addition, we have an appraiser on our staff which dedicates each Tuesday to appointments to service all your needs in this area.  She is certified by the Gemological Institute of America and has over 25 years of experience in the field.  Please call to reserve a time.

FAQ
What should I have appraised?

Generally you should have anything appraised and insured that you will not be able to easily replace out of your budget.  For some this a dollar value is anything over $500. For others this figure may be $10,000 and above. It is a personal choice that you should discuss with your insurance agent.

How much do you charge for an appraisal?

For uncomplicated jewelry the charge to appraise the first piece is $75.00, $45.00 for the second piece and $35.00 for all pieces thereafter.  We would be happy to give you an estimate for your more elaborate items.

How often should I have my jewelry appraised?

Check with your insurance agent, but with the increase in metal prices and current market conditions values have been changing rapidly.  It is important to have proper and current values listed for your scheduled jewelry.

How long will it take to have my jewelry appraised and do I have to leave it in the store?

Any jewelry brought in Tuesday morning will be ready to be picked up by Tuesday afternoon.  The appraisal will be mailed to you generally within a week.  Please feel free to call for a specific appointment if you would like to meet with the appraiser.
